Cod Steaks were asked by WFC Contractors to design and build a reciprocal egg structure – a feature piece for the Duck & Waffle Local restaurant in London’s St James’s Market.
The 8m x 4m sculpture comprises of an artworked, timber frame with wire mesh detailing. Due to challenges surrounding the magnitude of the ‘egg’ in comparison to its environment, special considerations were made throughout the design process to ensure that the structure is evenly and securely suspended from the ground floor ceiling using rigging points and tensioned stainless steel cables.
The final piece succeeds in complementing the overarching theme of the Duck & Waffle brand, whilst acting as a talking point for those dining at the restaurant.
