The Role

We’re looking for a skilled Project Manager to join our team and lead the delivery of complex, creative builds from concept through to installation. You’ll manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating internal departments and external suppliers to ensure quality, timelines and budgets are all met.

You’ll be the linchpin between fabrication design, workshop creatives, clients and contractors — keeping communication clear and momentum high throughout every stage of production.

In addition to the running of projects, you will work with our Development Director and Head of Project Management to support PQQs, tenders, quotations, and all work essential to pitching and presenting to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and manage fabrication projects from brief to handover

• Work with Department Heads/Project Leads to coordinate workflow across carpentry, metalwork, scenic, paint, and finishing teams

• Develop project timelines, resource plans and risk assessments

• Liaise directly with client team and subcontractors

• Attend production meetings and ensure clear communication across all teams

• Manage budgets, quotes and procurement

• Track projects, provide internal status reports & project evaluations for client

• Manage site logistics, including delivery to site, crew travel & accommodation

• Ensure all work meets creative, technical and safety standards

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience (minimum of 4 years’) managing creative or fabrication-based projects

• Confident working in a fast-paced workshop or production environment

• Production co-ordination experience

• Strong understanding of materials, fabrication processes and workshop disciplines

• Experienced in production of RAMS, Construction Phase plans and all relevant H&S documentation

• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills

• Calm under pressure with a proactive, solution-focused approach

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, MS Office and Gantt Software (MS Project or similar)

• Ability to read technical working drawings

• Willing to travel within the UK and abroad

Further Info:

• Salary - £33k-38k based on skills & experience

• Contract type - Permanent, full-time (40 hrs per week)

• Location - based in Bristol, UK (no remote working)

• Leave - 20 days + 8 bank hols. Up to 5 extra days awarded according to length of service

We’re always looking for freelance carpenters to join our in house team.  You will work alongside the project lead, in-house creative team and project managers to deliver high finishes for the Retail, Leisure, Museum and Heritage sectors.

The role would suit those with a background in large scale set/scenic builds, bespoke bar/restaurant fit outs, events and exhibitions.

Working predominantly from our premises in Bristol, the role will require occasional site installation work.

Essential:

• Minimum of 3 years professional carpentry experience

• Portfolio of work that can demonstrate suitability for the role

• Knowledge of materials and processes

• Ability to construct bespoke pieces in a timely yet durable manner

• Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail

• Adherence to good housekeeping & strict health & safety within the workshop

• Competent in the use of power & hand tools

• Must have own basic toolkit

• Basic level of physical fitness due to manual handling required

• Proven experience as a professional prop maker (5+ years preferred).

• Strong knowledge of various fabrication techniques, materials, and finishes.

• Competent in the use of basic power & hand tools

• Ability to produce bespoke elements within budgeted time

• Good with time management and estimation of required labour time

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve

• Artistic eye with attention to detail in textures, painting (including spraying), and finishing.

• Understanding of durability considerations for props handled by the public

• Experience in film, TV, theatre, experiential events or themed attractions.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a creative team.

• A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of prop-making skills.

 Key Responsibilities

• Interpret design briefs and translate concepts into fully realised props.

• Work with diverse materials including wood, metal, plastic, resin, foam, polystyrene and textiles.

• Create props which integrate tech (supplied by others)

• Paint, finish, and distress props to achieve realistic or stylized feel.

• Ensure all props are durable, functional, safe, and meet project requirements.

• Collaborate closely with other creative departments (including metalwork, modelmaking, carpentry, scenic art, mould making etc)

• Work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining high craftsmanship.

• Mentor junior prop makers and provide guidance when needed.

• Maintain a well-organised and safe workshop environment.

• Incorporate advanced techniques, including mould-making, casting, sculpting, and CNC machining.

• Adhere to health and safety regulations when working with tools, materials, and hazardous substances.

• Undertake occasional site installation work.

• Experience with animatronics, electronics, or mechanical props

Working alongside our creative team, you will utilise various fabrication techniques and materials to deliver precision models of a high calibre.
