  • As we continue to build a strong pipeline of projects, we are looking for a Senior Technical Designer to support our busy production schedule.

    The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.  Working closely with Project Management and Fabrication team, you will translate creative concepts into practical, buildable solutions and produce detailed technical drawings and 3D models ready for manufacture.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Minimum of 6 years’ technical design experience within the exhibition, attraction, experiential, theatre, or set building sectors.

    • A strong track record demonstrated through CV and portfolio

    • Ability to interpret creative concepts and develop them into practical buildable solutions

    • Knowledge of construction processes and experience of working alongside a workshop team

    • Experience producing manufacture-ready drawings for joinery, CNC, laser cutting, metal fabrication/machining, GRP, 3D printing

    • Proactive and practical approach, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, interacting with various stakeholders including in-house depts, clients and external suppliers

    • Technical ability to investigate new fabrication processes

    • Awareness of electromechanical design principles

    • Proficient in 2D and 3D cad (e.g Solidworks, Rhino, Autocad or equivalent)

    • Must be familiar with MS Office & Sharepoint

    • Skills in Adobe CS, Corel or other graphics package would be a bonus

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Interpreting concept designs/sketches provided by client, breaking elements down to produce fully resolved designs

    • Providing 2D technical drawings & 3D cad models to both our in-house construction team and outsourced contractors

    • Undertaking site surveys

    • Producing designs compliant with both health and safety and CDM regulations

    • Collaborating closely with the in-house build team to produce designs which work within the parameters of project budget, timescales and aesthetics

    • Liaising closely with structural engineers and other specialist contractors as necessary

    • Sourcing relevant parts, components, specialist materials and researching new processes

    • Providing full list of component parts/materials and machine ready cutting files

    • Producing project bill of quantities for costing/ordering

    • Maintaining drawings system on file and updating when required

    • Preparing presentations for client approval and supporting manufacture & installation literature as required

    • Assisting with quotations, providing estimates for design time & materials

    • Assisting Project Management with progress/monthly valuations related to design

    Contract Details:

    Salary - starting from £39, 000

    Contract type - permanent, full-time (40 hrs per week)

    Location - based in Bristol, UK (no remote working)

    Holiday - 20 days + 8 bank hols. Up to 5 extra days awarded according to length of service

    Start date - we’re waiting for the right candidate, but an immediate start is available for someone of the appropriate calibre

    Closing date - 3rd July, but may close earlier if the right candidate is identified

  • We’re always looking for freelance carpenters to join our in house team.  You will work alongside the project lead, in-house creative team and project managers to deliver high finishes for the Retail, Leisure, Museum and Heritage sectors.

    The role would suit those with a background in large scale set/scenic builds, bespoke bar/restaurant fit outs, events and exhibitions.

    Working predominantly from our premises in Bristol, the role will require occasional site installation work.

    Essential:

    • Minimum of 3 years professional carpentry experience

    • Portfolio of work that can demonstrate suitability for the role

    • Knowledge of materials and processes

    • Ability to construct bespoke pieces in a timely yet durable manner

    • Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail

    • Adherence to good housekeeping & strict health & safety within the workshop

    • Competent in the use of power & hand tools

    • Must have own basic toolkit

    • Basic level of physical fitness due to manual handling required

    • Ability to read technical working drawings

    • Excellent time keeping

Working alongside our creative team, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality props using a variety of materials and techniques. Based predominantly at our premises in Bristol, the role may require occasional site installation work.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Proven experience as a professional prop maker (5+ years preferred).

    • Strong knowledge of various fabrication techniques, materials, and finishes.

    • Competent in the use of basic power & hand tools

    • Ability to produce bespoke elements within budgeted time

    • Good with time management and estimation of required labour time

    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve

    • Artistic eye with attention to detail in textures, painting (including spraying), and finishing.

    • Understanding of durability considerations for props handled by the public

    • Experience in film, TV, theatre, experiential events or themed attractions.

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a creative team.

    • A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of prop-making skills.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Interpret design briefs and translate concepts into fully realised props.

    • Work with diverse materials including wood, metal, plastic, resin, foam, polystyrene and textiles.

    • Create props which integrate tech (supplied by others)

    • Paint, finish, and distress props to achieve realistic or stylized feel.

    • Ensure all props are durable, functional, safe, and meet project requirements.

    • Collaborate closely with other creative departments (including metalwork, modelmaking, carpentry, scenic art, mould making etc)

    • Work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining high craftsmanship.

    • Mentor junior prop makers and provide guidance when needed.

    • Maintain a well-organised and safe workshop environment.

    • Incorporate advanced techniques, including mould-making, casting, sculpting, and CNC machining.

    • Adhere to health and safety regulations when working with tools, materials, and hazardous substances.

    • Undertake occasional site installation work.

    Bonus Skills

    • Ability to operate tools such as 3D printers & laser cutters

    • Experience with animatronics, electronics, or mechanical props

    • Good with time management and estimation of required labour time

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

    • Experience in film, TV, architecture, or exhibition work.

    • A strong portfolio showcasing previous model-making projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Adhere to health and safety regulations when working with tools, materials, and hazardous substances.

    • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks).

    • Degree or diploma in Model Making or similar.
