1980 — Where It Began
Cod Steaks was founded in 1985 as a specialist model-making company. From the beginning, the focus was on imaginative ideas, skilled craftsmanship and finding practical ways to bring ambitious designs to life.
Building Worlds for Animation
Cod Steaks established its reputation by creating detailed sets and models for some of the animation industry’s most celebrated productions. This work demanded precision, patience and creative problem-solving—qualities that continue to shape everything we make today.
Growing Beyond the Screen
Over the following decades, our skills expanded beyond animation into film, television, theatre, museums, exhibitions, advertising and themed environments. What began as a model-making company gradually developed into a multidisciplinary creative design and fabrication studio.
Under One Roof in Bristol
Today, our creative studio and specialist departments operate together from a 24,000 sq ft workshop in Bristol. Designers, project managers, model makers, sculptors, scenic artists, engineers, joiners and fabricators collaborate closely from the earliest idea through to final installation.
Creating Experiences Worldwide
More than 2,000 projects later, Cod Steaks continues to create sets, props, models, sculptures and immersive environments for clients across the UK and worldwide. Our work can be found in museums, visitor attractions, films, restaurants, retail spaces, exhibitions and live experiences—each project brought to life with the same imagination and attention to detail that began our story in 1980.
